Save Reports as PDF in Dynamics NAV 2009 RTC

Generating reports in Dynamics NAV and printing them into a PDF was always possible by installing a local printer driver that is capable of generating a PDF file instead of printing directly to a printer. With Dynamics NAV 2009 you can now save any report you view from the Role Tailored Client (RTC) as a PDF file. This functionality was added in a new build (build 32843) described in knowledge base article KB 2628466. This new functionality allows you to save any report into a PDF instead of printing it. In the request page of the report, you find a new “Print” command button that also allows you to select “PDF” instead of “Print”.

After the PDF file is created, you can then select if you want to open or save the report. You can save the report anywhere on your local computer or network. If you don’t have a PDF Viewer installed on your system, you will not be able to open this generated document.
