With Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft introduced a completely different licensing model compared to its’ Microsoft Dynamics predecessors – Dynamics NAV, AX, and GP. Remember, Business Central is delivered through a monthly subscription license per user, which includes the cost of storage, hosting, and uninterrupted access to your data and business applications. The primary licensing is by “named user subscription” and requires everyone who uses the software to own a license.
When you decide to implement Business Central, you must identify who gets a full user license, who gets an additional user license, or who will simply be using limited functionality on a shared device. There are four user license options available:
- Business Central Essentials full user license
- Business Central Premium full user license
- Team Member license (additional)
- Device license (additional)
