In October, Microsoft will be releasing NAV 2013R2. This new version of Dynamics NAV ERP (Navision) has key functionality for deploying NAV in the cloud as well as tighter integration with Office. Both traditional and Office 365
This new version will support new functionality for handling multi-tenancy. Multi-Tenancy is tha ability to have more than once ‘instance’ or end user company running on one server, both physical or virtual. This is important because to make cloud computing affordable, the ability to not require a server for every end customer can lower the Total Cost of Ownership significantly. The new version also has tools to help deploy enterprise scale hosting of application with faster deployment. The ability to deploy NAV on premise and yet use a cloud based SharePoint site with one single login & sign on and a consistant feel and look across both Office 365 and the NAV Web client.
This functionality builds on the FP1 (Feature Pack 1) release of NAV 2013 which came out in June 2013. This allowed NAV to be deployed on Microsoft Windows Azure platform. Azure is a trusted secure enterprise-class cloud infrastructure directly available from MIcrosoft. Nav 2013 R2 (fka Navision) shows that Microsoft is truly committed to a long term future with NAV partners like Clients First and adds significant value for small and mid-sized customers. These capabilities have come to NAV years before the other Dynamics solutions such as GP, SL & AX.
