Bing – Lookout Google, Microsoft’s Next Generation Search Engine

Microsoft has been quietly rebuilding their search engine technology.  It’s pretty well known that Live.com and msn search are mediocre at best when compared with Google or Yahoo.

I think Microsoft was smart not to recycle the ‘live’ name as its too tainted at this point for an all new search technology so it looks like they will be using bing.  Four short easy to remember characters.  Cnet today announced Microsoft took out the domain www.bing.com.au which is an indicator they are getting ready to rollout at some point in the reasonable future.

If you now go to www.bing.com you can see a slick Flash demo of the site (hmm.  Why not use Microsoft’s own Silverlight technology?  Guess they know most google users probably don’t use Silverlight yet)
