Per an article from Network Computing Here. It looks like Microsoft will no longer be offering the PerformancePoint bundle of applications.
It will roll the analytics, dashboarding and scorecarding into the enterprise version of Sharepoint server for free. It seems to be killing off the Planning and Reporting application that was supposed to eventually replace FRx, their Dynamics unit’s financial reporting tool that came along with the original Great Plains acquisition.
There have been rumors for a while that FRx was no longer going to be enhanced and eventually phased out. This article essentially says FRx now lives on.
Given the huge knowledgebase of expertise out there, including among our 90minds members, this is great news for the simple and easy to utilize tool known as FRx.

Wow – nice catch on this one Mark. The article does indeed seem to say that FRX will remain as a product.
I wonder if this means that they'll upgrade the features (it's been a long time since we've seen a feature upgrade in FRX) or whether it will just seem to remain in maintenance mode.
Are there any other report writing softwares that integrate with MAS 500 besides FRX? It might just be my skill level, but it doesn't seem to do everything that I need it to or sometimes takes way to long to design a report. I would love to know who some of the competition is.

This is an Excel based tool. I can't personnally vouch for it but I've heard pretty good things through my network. I don't think it is super cheap. somewhere in the $5k to $10k range I believe
